Ask about clubs, fees, tournaments, tryouts and how the amateur game actually works. Every answer cites the record it came from, and where a club publishes nothing, it says so rather than guessing.
Ten Canadian cities today · More of Canada, then the US
Straight answers to the things that come up every season, researched, with real numbers rather than opinion. Six guides, free to read.
Pulled live from showupandplay.substack.com and filtered to the sports writing. Publish a new one and it appears here on its own.
The wider game, argued properly. Hosted by Etienne Noumen: the same research that goes into the guides, read aloud, with a verdict at the end rather than a shrug.
Real clubs, real published fees where clubs publish them, real league and facility detail, researched and dated so you can act on it. Newest first.
Soccer in all ten cities below. Hockey so far is Calgary only, in the Calgary minor hockey guide. We would rather name the one city we have read than imply ten.
Everything here is free to use. We're building these out one at a time and watching what actually gets used before anything else changes.
Ask anything about soccer or hockey in your city: clubs, fees, tournaments, tryouts, how the pathway works. Answers come from our own researched records and cite the source, or admit they don’t know.
Where a league publishes its game schedule, Ask also tells you when and where your child plays next, with directions and any change the league has posted. Running a club? Put your schedule in front of parents.
Log what happened after each game, rate yourself honestly, and draw the play that broke down. Unlimited entries, unlimited reviews, no card.
Filter 142 amateur clubs and the 49 associations that govern them across 10 Canadian cities, by level, age group and whether the club actually publishes its fees. No sign-up.
Indoor season venues in Calgary and Edmonton: domes, fieldhouses and gym floors, with surface, field sizes, rates and season dates. Crucially, whether you can just turn up and play: only one venue in 29 publishes a drop-in you could plan around, and we say which.
Upcoming sanctioned tournaments in all 10 cities, Ontario Soccer, Soccer Québec, BC Soccer, Alberta Soccer and the rest, with real dates, entry fees and deadlines. Finished tournaments drop off automatically.
Compare academies side by side on cost, contact hours, coaching credentials and where players actually end up, the questions the brochures skip.
Find the indoor turf near you, with drop-in times, booking links and what a session costs, starting with the cities we've already mapped.
Not a dashboard you abandon in March. Small enough to fill in on the drive home, structured enough to show you something by the end of the season.
Date it, title it, say what happened. What went well, what didn't, what you'll do differently. Two minutes after the whistle beats an hour a week later.
Opponent, self-rating out of ten, and the notes behind the number. Over a season the honest scores tell you far more than the good ones.
Draw the movement you're trying to describe. Five colours, a clean canvas, and you can save it as a PNG or email it straight to a teammate or coach.
Every club, association and sanctioned tournament on this site, bundled inside the app, so the lists open on a touchline with one bar of signal, or none. Ask needs a connection; the finders do not.
